ESSAYS by PETER URBAN
Peaking Under The Hood
The best ideas I've encountered in thirty years of building technology organizations were rarely in the meeting slide decks, the reports, or the strategy documents. They came out of the conversations after the meetings, the questions nobody wanted to ask "in the room," and the patterns that only became visible after the third company made the same mistake for the same reasons.
These essays are where I work through those patterns. They are often long, research-grounded, and they follow the the real underlying mechanisms wherever it leads. If you prefer to understand why something is happening before deciding what to do about it, get comfortable and pull up a chair.
